Michael J. Rainka is a Jacksonville criminal defense and DUI attorney and a former Assistant Public Defender. He has tried more than 30 cases to verdict, represented more than 2,000 clients, and was selected to Super Lawyers Rising Stars in 2020, 2021 and 2024. Since founding Rainka Law, Michael has focused his practice exclusively on criminal defense, with a particular focus on DUI defense.
Michael was born in Albany, New York, but grew up in Port Orange, Florida. After graduating from Father Lopez Catholic High School, Michael attended the University of Florida.
After two years working as a Real Estate Agent, Michael returned to school to study law at Florida Coastal School of Law. He graduated cum laude and became an Assistant Public Defender. Michael served as an Assistant Public Defender for four years practicing Criminal Law. He has represented thousands of individuals across Florida facing various charges ranging from minor misdemeanor offenses to Attempted Murder. Additionally, Michael has handled hundreds of Florida DUI charges and tried multiple Florida DUI cases to verdict.
Before founding Rainka Law, Michael worked in civil litigation at a construction, real estate and personal injury firm. Across his career he has tried more than 30 cases to verdict. Today his practice is devoted exclusively to criminal defense, with a particular focus on DUI defense.
